Food
As a mother of 8 children there is nothing more frustrating
than going into the kitchen to prepare a meal and when you open the cabinet or
refrigerator you realize the food you put in there has been consumed. Now, you need to go to the store again before
you can prepare a meal. Another
frustration is going to the grocery store to purchase a certain item of food
for a special meal and finding the store shelf is empty.
I, Melonie Brown, as director of preparedness, am always telling my children
that we need to prepare. You prepare for
work or school. We watch the news and
weather so we can wear the proper clothing. If it’s raining then we take our
umbrella, snowing the heavy coats and boots. when we go on vacation we plan ahead to make
sure that we have our lodging accommodations taken care of as well as packing
the car with all the things needed to have a great vacation.
So I ask you, why is it so hard for us to look at the signs
of the times around us given to us through the bible and media, and not
understand that hard times are coming to us and we need to stock up. I can think of a lot of things to stock up on
however, if you are hungry batteries won’t help you, nor will flashlights and cell
phone charges. You will need food.
Most of us have been taught that the Bible talks about the
last days and many feel that preparing to have enough food means you have no
faith and you are fear driven. So, why did Joseph stockpile grain enough for
seven years of famine? This did not
represent a lack of faith but preparation.
God provided through Joseph’s preparation just as we must all prepare.
No one can make this choice for you, no one can make you
prepare. However, I would love to
encourage you to do so.
Stock up today,
with the rise in food cost this coming year; your pantry could be the most
valuable asset you own.
